Notice of Vacancy

A vacancy has arisen on Silloth-on-Solway Town Council and a Notice of Vacancy completed, a copy of which is below.  The Notice gives a period of 14 days for requests to be made for an election (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays).

By the end of the 14 day period if the Elections Team at Allerdale Borough Council have received a ‘Call for Election’, they will  notify the Town Council if there is to be a by-election.  A valid call for election is when ten registered local electors from the relevant area write to the Returning Officer requesting an election be held.  If there is no call for election, the Town Council will be required to fill the vacancy by co-option.
