Election Briefings

Allerdale Borough Council has organised a number of briefings where they will talk through the plan and process for the coming elections, including:
  • qualifications/disqualifications for nomination
  • the election timetable
  • the nomination process
  • postal vote opening
  • plans for the count
There will be packs available containing generic nomination forms for the parish council elections along with personalised nomination forms for each of the 23 new Allerdale wards. The packs will also contain relevant guidance and a copy of the election timetable. Candidates and agents will be able to book an appointment on the night for checking and submission of completed nomination forms, and they will be handing out register request forms so that they can ensure candidates receive the relevant register as soon as possible.

They will also discuss the Allerdale boundary changes and the parish community governance reviews and how this affects the wards, polling districts and polling stations.

The Democratic Services team will discuss the role, duties and responsibilities of a councillor and the type of training and induction that Allerdale councillors will be offered.

They are encouraging all parish council clerks and potential parish candidates to attend these briefings along with Allerdale council candidates, election agents and political parties.

Because of restrictions on numbers at each of the venues They need to know how many people are planning to attend the sessions. Anyone planning to attend is asked to email electoralservices@allerdale.gov.uk, or ring the team on 01900 702550 to let them know which session they wish to attend.
